About Rajasthan
Rajasthan, located in the north-west of India is famously known as the "Land of Princes". The state along with its capital city of Jaipur leads the other Indian states in respect of heritage. Being one of the origins of Indian royalty, the place was house to numerous Rajput Maharajas. Along with a plethora of tourist destinations, the sun kissed Great Indian Desert or Thar Dessert and the Aravallis mountain ranges attracts tourists from all over the world. Sprawling over an area of 342,239 sq.km., Rajasthan is the biggest state of the country.

Rajasthan, being a place of the inhospitable Thar Dessert, experiences tropical climate of typical deserts. The inhabitants mostly have to go through a hot climate without sufficient rainfall. The temperature variations are very distinct, though.

Summer: Summer generally sets in Rajasthan in March. The temperature starts rising from the month of April and continues till June. In places near the eastern Aravalli Range, the average summer temperature varies in between 40° C to 45° C, though the highest can be 49° C. As compared to the temperature in Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Phalodi and Barmer, areas of Mount Abu and Udaipur, have got a lower temperature of 31.5° C to 38° C. The summer nights in Rajasthan are quite pleasant, when the temperature falls down to 20° C to 29° C.
Monsoon: Varying from arid to moist climate, Rajasthan receives a very little rainfall. Monsoon starts in June end and last till mid-September. The average annual rainfall varies from one region to another. Mount Abu, being the highest recipient of annual rainfall receives around 163.8 cm of rainfall, whereas, the lowest ranges from 10 cm in the north-western Jaisalmer to 30 cm in Bikaner.
Winter: Contradicting the hot summer weather, winter temperature falls down to as low as 10° C. January, being the coldest month of the year experiences even -2° C at night. The chilled western winds along with some drizzle can really make you shiver even when wrapped in a blanket.
The best time to experience the vibrancy of Rajasthan is between the months of October and March.

The state of Rajasthan is well-connected to all the major cities of India by every means of transport.
By Road: Proximity to a number of National Highways, especially National Highway 8 (NH 8), the first 4 - 8 lane National Highway of India helps Rajasthan connect to all the major parts of the country. Besides this, the state is even privileged with some state highways. Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation along with some private operators serves the place.
By Rail: Possession of numerous Indian railway stations makes the state be touch with all the major places in India. Some of the chief railway stations are located in Ajmer, Bikaner, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kota and Udaipur. Though Jaipur railway station is the main railway station of Rajasthan, Kota Railway Station is the sole Electrified Section, through which three Rajdhani Expresses run. 'Palace on Wheels' is the world famous train running through Rajasthan. Besides this, the other trains connecting Rajasthan to the other India states are Marudhar Express, Gujarat Mail, Mandore Express, Shatabdi Express, Intercity Express and many more.
By Air: Rajasthan is well-linked with all the main cities of India as well as abroad through its six airports. Sanganer Airport in Jaipur is the sole international airport of the state. Other airports like Maharana Pratap Airport in Udaipur, Jaisalmer Airport, Jodhpur Airport, Nal (Bikaner) Airport and Kota Airport are the domestic airports from where airlines like Air India, Jet Airways etc. operate. Jodhpur Airport is the nearest airport to the state.
Tourist Attractions in Rajasthan
Thar Desert: The Thar Desert or the Great Indian Desert, along the borderline of Pakistan in the north west of India, is the largest desert of the country. Spreading over an area of 200,000 sq. km, this barren desert attracts people across the globe. Besides its vastness, the desert is even famous the annual festival held there. The major attraction of this fair is the "best-dressed camel" competition. Besides dressing themselves in vibrant colored traditional clothes, the locals even dress their camels to be a part of the competition. The fair even includes competition on turban tying, best moustache etc. and shows conducted by puppeteers, snake charmers, folk dancers etc. Mount Abu: Mount Abu is said to be the mythological beauty of Rajasthan. Located amidst flourishing green woods at the 1, 219 m is the sole hill station of Rajasthan. This highest peak of the Aravali mountain range along with its waterfalls running across the lush green forests and forming lakes makes it one of the famous honeymoon destinations in India. The Delwara Jain temples built in between the varied flora and fauna is a place one need not miss.

City Palace: The gigantic City Palace in the capital city of Rajasthan is a fusion of Mughal architecture and traditions of Rajasthan. The palace includes two magnificent buildings like Mubarak Mahal and Chandra Mahal. Chandra Mahal, besides housing a museum, still is home to the royal family of the Maharaja of Jaipur.
Chittorgarh Fort: Chittorgarh Fort, located in the height of 180 m over 280�ha area reflects the quintessence of homage to the courage, sacrifice, nationalism and medieval chivalry. This is on of the forts that witnessed three blood-spattered sieges.
